About the case
This lawsuit claims that Navy Federal Credit Union failed to prevent third parties from opening unauthorized personal loan accounts in members' names, and failed to cancel those loans after people impersonating Navy Federal personnel persuaded members to transfer the loan funds to unknown third parties. Navy Federal denies the allegations and denies that it is liable to the plaintiffs or class members.
Only members whose loans are in Navy Federal's records receive the notice and are in the class. Cancelling the loans, asking the credit bureaus to delete the reporting and refunding loan payments happen without a claim; the claim form is for the additional set amount.
