About the case
The lawsuit alleges that the Hyundai and Kia class vehicles contain defective ZF-TRW airbag control units that are vulnerable to a condition called electrical overstress, which may cause the vehicles' airbags and other safety features to fail during a collision. The settling defendants (Hyundai, Kia, Hyundai Mobis and Mobis Parts America) deny the allegations. The Court granted final approval on October 8, 2025.
