About the case

The lawsuit alleges that Deere & Company withheld the software and repair tools that its large agricultural equipment depends on, so that owners had to use Deere-authorized dealers for diagnosis, maintenance and repair and paid more than they would have in a competitive market. John Deere denies any wrongdoing. The settlement pays $99 million, plus interest, into a fund and requires Deere to make its repair tools available to customers and independent repair shops, with the court keeping jurisdiction over that for ten years.
